D.P. Jindal Group is diversified into renewable power generation. The group company Maharashtra seamless Limited (MSL) has successfully commissioned wind power project having 7 MW capacity in the month of December 2001 at district Satara, Maharashtra with a total cost of Rs. 36 crores (approx.). The entire project cost has been financed by the company with its internal resources only. This wind power plant enabled MSL both for reaping the fiscal benefits, viz. 100% income tax depreciation, 100% sale tax incentives, capital subsidy etc. and to neutralize the rising power cost in the State of Maharashtra. It meets approx. 14% of the total present power consumption.
Another step in this direction was taken in the year 2012 by Maharashtra Seamless Ltd. (MSL) , wherein a 5 MW solar power plant was step-up in Pokaran. The project was allotted to it by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM). Under competitive bidding, MSL had bid for Rs. 12.24 / unit. NVVN and MSL have signed PPA for a period of 25 years. This marks MSL’s entry into solar power segment. The project is expected to generate annual revenues of around Rs.11 crore and will also provide certain tax benefits to the company.
During 2017, A 10 x2 MW capacity Solar Power plant under National Solar Mission, Phase II, batch II has been commissioned on 06th of May, 2017 under Guidance of Sh. Saket Jindal, MD MSL, and was inaugurated on 15th Aug, 2017.
The Total capacity has increased to 33MW with addition of 1 MW Roof Top plant at MSL Nagothane factory in 2017. The company (MSL) has generated 182 lakhs electrical units during the 2017 financial year closing.
